Highlands Squash Club Board Executive Meeting
Minutes January 12, 2008 Members
Present: Glen Carter, Don Gage, Mike Gervais, Ray Isaacs, Jim Andrews, Gerry
Morral 1.
Glen Carter called the
meeting to order at 3:05pm 2.
Don moved that the
minutes of the Nov. 6, 2007 be approved. Seconded by Gerry Morral. Motion carried. 3.
Don distributed copies
of the current Squash Club income statement and balance sheet. 4.
Jim Andrews explained
that the roof will require some repair work during spring/summer. Until then we
can try to minimize leaking by removing as much snow as possible. 5.
Gerry
has not been able to meet with Rood Thurston to discuss new viewing windows.
Mike Gervais questioned whether we could make viewing openings without windows.
This will be researched. 6.
Mike’s efforts in regard to Trillium press release were successful and
well received. 7.
Glen indicated that
Walker’s Heating and Cooling had taken delivery of the equipment ordered for
the squash club and that installation would begin soon. 8.
The possibility of new
viewing windows or openings had been discussed in item #5. Technical details
regarding floor refinishing will be researched. It was decided to get a quote to
prep and paint court 1. 9.
Don indicated that he
is encouraged by the number of new members. 10. House
league is flourishing and is serving as an introduction for potential members. 11. Gerry
discussed the volunteer list that is published on the web site. There are still
some jobs left to be spoken for. 12. Mike
presented the possibility of a 12 hour squash marathon with the involvement of
local business and organizations e.g. 4 C’s. Mill Valley Water, IGA,
Independent, the HHSS. Also the incentive to join as a member before renovations
are completed. It was decided to postpone celebration/marathon ideas until bulk
of renovations are done. 13. We
have decided to offer a 25% saving on the yearly fee if joining before
renovations are complete. Those members who have already paid $200 may request a
corresponding reduction on next year’s fees if they so desire. We decided to
set the membership fees according to the clubs fiscal year being April 1 to
March 31. Some individuals joining before April 1 will pay $150. Similarly a
student will be $75 rather than $100 and a family rate will be $300 rather than
$400. 14. Don
indicated that newly designed membership cards would be provided starting
immediately. Glen conveyed his thanks to Dan for his ongoing efforts as web
master for the squash club on-line site. 15. Meeting
was adjourned at 4:40pm. 16. Next
meeting is scheduled for Friday Feb. 22nd at 5:30pm at McKeck’s. |
